Abstract

This project presents the design and fabrication of an automated coconut scraping machine aimed at improving safety, efficiency, and consistency in coconut processing. Traditional scraping methods are labour-intensive, time-consuming, and expose users to potential injuries, while existing semi-automated solutions still require significant manual handling. To address these limitations, the proposed machine integrates a DC motor for blade rotation and stepper motors combined with lead screw to achieve precise and controlled movement. An Arduino-based control system coordinates the overall operation, ensuring smooth and reliable performance. A coconut clamping mechanism is incorporated to securely hold the coconut, reducing the need for direct human contact during operation. Additional safety features, including an emergency stop function and protective design elements, further enhance user safety. The machine is designed to be compact, user-friendly, and suitable for household use as well as small-scale food industries. Overall, the developed system significantly reduces manual effort, increases productivity, and ensures uniform scraping quality while providing a foundation for future enhancements such as advanced automation and multi-unit processing
