Abstract
This Project presents the design and development of an automated knife-sharpening machine with angle control and integrated safety features. The system aims to provide consistent, high quality sharpening while minimizing user skill-requirement and risk. A programmable microcontroller is integrated within the system to regulate the stepper-motor mechanism to move the abrasives along the knife cutting edge. Using a angle changing plate helps in tilting the grinding motor to achieve different sharpening angles. Integrations of sensors in the system also prepare the interlock for the system, increasing the safeness and preventing activation by accident. The machine is prepared with a blade-clamping system to lower the possibilities of injuries. Conceptual Design of the machine is prepared after reviewing existing sharpening machines. This automated knife-sharpener with adaptive angle control and safety mechanisms fulfil the needs of society and industry
