Abstract

Wireless wheelchair with hand gesture control is a power wheelchair which can be controlled by simple hand gestures. The user just needs to wear the strain gauge glove which are includes two sensors. The sensors are used to record the movement of the hand in a specific direction which will then result in the movement of the wheelchair in the respective direction. This project will also improve the wheelchair movement into wirelessly by making some hand gestures. There can be several applications of this module. The traditional power wheelchair with buttons controlled has become very bulky and it also limits the distance between the user and the wheelchair. The wireless wheelchair with hand gesture control will function by a wearable hand glove unit from which the hand movements can be used as the input for the robot movement. The wireless communication enables the user to interact with the wheelchair in a more user-friendly way. The wearable strain gauge glove will have two sensors which will feed the movement of the user’s hand gestures to the microcontroller. The microcontroller will then control the movement of the wheelchair which accordingly to the data received from the strain gauge glove. For the wireless control of this project will be using the XBee module. This project can be also used in military application. This is because it will be easier to control the robot of the military with wireless feature. Thus, it can be used for rescue and surveillance missions. This project can also be integrated for Fire Rescue Mission with some algorithm applied to this project as well as several other features
