Abstract

The title of this dissertation is design and fabrication ofaluminium sheet stamping die (upper die). In this dissertation, a progressive die that consists of blanking process and embossing operation is designed and fabricated. In the final testing, the shape of aluminium sheet that stamped by the aluminium sheet stamping die is considered satisfactory. Initially, research was carried out to obtain the information about the design and fabrication of die. Next, the sheet metal product shape, aluminium sheet stamping die and upper punch plate would be designed. In design stage, the materials and tools that needed to fabricate the stamping die were considered and stated. After the design stage was completed, machining operation was started with manual handling milling machine, CNC milling machine and CNC lathe machine. NC code used to operate CNC machine was generated and the way to generate the NC code is shownin Chapter 3 Methodology. When all the machining of die components was completed, all the die components were then mated together by using cap screw. Also, the upper die and lower die were combined to form the complete aluminium sheet stamping die. Next, the die was sent for the testing. In the testing, stroke of the hydraulic press machine would press on die to perform the stamping. Modifications were made to improve the result. Finally, an acceptable final product was obtained and the objective of this project is accomplished.
