Abstract
The main objective of this project is to develop a pick-and-place machine with separating function which is controlled by Programmable Logic Control. The pick-and-place machine is construct with pneumatic cylinder and able to pick the object with vacuum method and able to place the object separately to different position. The purpose of the pick-and-place machine is to replace human power and make a production line to be more effective. The machine can perform automatically, continuously, and accurately since it is programmable controlled. Hence, it can increase work efficiency and effectiveness. Besides, it can perform hazardous and tough task which will harm human. The design of pick-and-place machine consists of two main parts which are mechanical part and electronic part. The mechanical part consists of pneumatic cylinder and where electronic part consists of wiring connection of PLC, solenoid valve and sensors. Ladder diagram is needed to control the movement of the pick-and-place machine. The prototype developed in this project is able to perform the task which is, the object will be differentiated by sensor, and sensor will send signal to PLC, then PLC which written ladder diagram will transfer the signal to pneumatic cylinder and it will pick up the object and place at a selected position and then the other pneumatic cylinder will separate the object by pushing it to different directions.
