Abstract
The main objective of this project is to design and fabricate a shuttlecock launcher that is capable to shoot out the shuttlecock by spring force. The project is designed based on few aspects that are simple and easy to use. The Badminton shuttlecock launcher is an electromechanical machine which imitates a badminton training-partner. Its primary purpose is to launch badminton birdies (shuttlecocks) at various heights and locations on the court so that the players can exercise rallies and train their reflex. Since badminton shuttlecock have irregular shapes and are not solid, the mechanism to feed, aim and launch a birdie can be challenging. Currently there is very limited selection in the market for badminton birdie launchers. Our final design involves: a) A ejection system launching source b) A spring mechanism to activate the launch c) A shuttlecock holder to hold the shuttlecock d) A feeder system to allow one shuttlecock to load at a time e) A V-belt that enable two shaft rotate at the same time Design requirements b and e are actuated by motors, and a central microprocessor with controlling algorithms coordinates the timing and instrumentation of each part. The system is thoroughly tested in different stages of the project. After several iterations made to the system, the shuttlecock launcher is now functional for badminton players' practice.
