Abstract
The purpose of the study is to design and analyze on the air rotor system. Air rotor system is a high altitude wind turbine without a tower. Air rotor system is an essential alternative for green energy. The name of the "Air Rotor System" comes from the environment it works and how it works. "Air" is taken from the meaning of fluid which surrounds the earth, the atmosphere, inodorous, insipid, transparent, compressible and elastic. From the engineering view, "Rotor" is the member of a machine or device having blades radiating from a center hub, which is rotating to obtain output (work) from input. System is an organized set of interrelated ideas or principles in order to get a result. Both qualitative and quantitative research methodology was utilized in this study. The qualitative research data consisted of interview with expertise. The results from the marketing survey and flow simulation both revealed a high level of changes in the initial design. Based on an expertise, the initial design was a failure because the system is not as stable as assumed. When the wind blows, the system will swing. A stabilizer named blimp was introduced into the design. Hence, flow simulation using SolidWorks has been carried out to study the flow trajectories after integrate the blimp as stabilizer into the design. The author recommends that the weight for the air rotor system to be reduced more and the stabilizer shape can be well-added into the design by modifying the shape of blimp. It is recommended that an aero foil or a blimp to be attached to the system. It is also recommended that further research be carried out to further simplify the components for the system.
