Abstract

Pneumatic systems are widely applied in the industry these days as their application in the automated systems continues to advance. Therefore, it is essential to have proper pneumatics training for students undertaking Diploma and Advanced Diploma in Technology programmes. This project is designed to address this issue. Moreover, this project would be a contribution to the college laboratory facilities. My part in this project focuses on the design and implementation of Feeding, Stamping and Conveyor Stations. This training kit integrates four different industrial applications of pneumatics into a continuous manufacturing line. The aim is to educate students on the use of pneumatic cylinders and valves, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) and sensors and to automate the system. Students will be able to experience the real-life applications of pneumatics and electro-pneumatics through the training, which is designed along similar lines to those used in industry. This project is divided into two sections. The first section includes the feeding, stamping and conveyor stations, whereas the second section is the Automated Storage System (ASS). This dissertation covers the first section.
