Abstract

This project is to design and fabricate an automated storage and retrieval system. The main objective of this project is to construct an automated guided vehicle to transport goods from input station to the storage rack. An automated storage and retrieval system is a system which can perform withdrawal and deposit goods either by semi-automated or fully automated. Automated storage and retrieval system has become so popular in today's factory and warehouses as it can used to keep lots of stocks and it can save spaces. Automated storage and retrieval system introduced in the year of 1950. Before the system is introduced, people tend to walk to store or take goods out from their storage. The introduction of the system helps to save cost and time saving because it reduces almost 70% of manual retrieval time. This automated storage and retrieval system consists of three parts, which is the mechanical part, electronic part and control system programming. In the mechanical part, it consists of the platforms, cylinder, screw shaft, AGV body frame and etc. For the electronic part, it consists circuit board, motor and wiring. Whereas for the programming part, it consists of the program for platform to move and also the AGV to move along its line. After everything has been assembled, the author is required to test the whole system so that it can run automatically.
