6S is a workplace organization method which is widely adopted by manufacturing companies to approach the lean production. 6S is also a housekeeping practice that makes the workplace looks tidy and neat. The aim of 6S is to develop the awareness of team members and to response to normal and abnormal conditions in their work area. It enables people to see problems as they facilitate root cause problem solving. Essentially, 6S is a visual communication of the workplace status. 6S is also an ongoing practice for them to act on all the small things that can make it better, safer, more ergonomic and easier to work in. Each pillar of 6S is discussed as follow; Sort remove all the unneeded items from the production workplace. Set in Order means that the needed items are arranged so that they are easy to use so that anyone can find them and put them away; Shine means to keep everything swept and clean; Safety pillar is focuses on eliminating hazards and creating a safe environment to work; Standardize integrates Sort, Set in Order, Shine and Safety into a unified whole; Sustain means to make a habit of properly maintaining correct procedures. A case study has been initiated to understand an in depth study and analysis of 6S implementation in a manufacturing company. Each inspection points were having their particular functions to achieve the success of the 6S implementation as reported in section 4.3. At the end of this project, the gap analysis on the 6S related issues in a selected manufacturing workplace have been performed. A 6S system for a manufacturing workplace has also being developed. Finally, this system has been implemented to a manufacturing workplace. The benefits of 6S are to give employees an opportunity to provide creative input, to make the workplace more pleasant to work in, to remove obstacles at the workplace, to make it easier to communicate among the working employees, to decrease the changeover time by reducing the searching time and raising overall efficiency, to prevent the defects being produced that causes from attaching the wrong parts and using the wrong jig.
