Abstract

Nowadays, smart planting has become a core and effective planting technology to make it more effectively and productivity comparing to traditional method. Recently Internet of Things (IoT) were become more and more famous in this world. There are various field of industry implementing this new technology to enhance the industrial work, which involving automated control so that less manual controlling were required. This will make the industry smarter, safer and more environmental sustainable. In agriculture field, IoT is transforming the industry into more technology based which reduce the challenge facing by farmers. Besides, now many humans start using IoT technology to assist their personal daily life to do thing in more efficient with less effort. As a humans that live with a busy daily working lifestyle, it is hard to control and manage all the things surroundings us without any technology assist. This project was mainly designed to aim for humans which having a busy lifestyle, which lack of time or planting knowledge to taking care of their lovely houseplants., Having a houseplant in house can makes the surrounding air fresher but taking care of the plants was a challenge for most of the people. According to online survey statistic, getting up of 60% of the participant response that feel challenging to taking care of their houseplants. In this project, IoT was implemented into a plant monitoring system which combine the monitoring and watering system to fulfil the basic needs of the plants to be survive although the owner is not around for a short period (few days). Sensors and watering pump were added into the system to collect data for condition checking followed by watering pump actions and ended up with data uploading to cloud storage for owner to monitor when they are not around. This will reduce the manual work involved in the planting process with minimizing the cause of dying plant.
