Abstract

Nowadays, diabetic foot ulcer is one of the common and serious complications for diabetic patients. Foot ulcers are highly susceptible to infection and speed of healing is slow. Early detection and treatment of diabetic wound is essential as to avoid uncontrollable progression of wound which would unfortunately result in amputation. Hence, a system to detect and track the progression of diabetic wound with MATLAB is developed in this project, entitled “Identification, Characterisation and Measurement of Diabetic Ulcer with MATLAB: Algorithm and GUI Development”. In this project, the system is capable of locating the position of ulcer from an image, followed by characterization of wound based on wound colour and measurement of wound. After analysis, the system will show the analysis result in a message box. Besides that, MATLAB GUI is used as a user interface in this project. The content in this report include a detail background to develop this system, some research information for the system and so on. Moreover, all the detail of to develop this project are described step by step in this report.
