Abstract

The objective of this project is to design an android application that contain three features that is a facial recognition system, a surveillance camera and appliances control system. The software uses to create the android application is android studio. The facial recognition system in the application is used to unlock main door in his home. It operate by taking user face image in the Wi-Fi zone. The image taken is then send to the server in user computer and compute. The user computer run Matlab Graphical User Interface (GUI) and it does the computation for the facial recognition by receiving the input. The result produce is then send back to the android phone. If the result is successful, it allow user to control the main door and other home appliances. This allow user to unlock doors or light to increase the security level of the system. The face recognition system have an accuracy of 75%. For the security and appliances control system, it uses Arduino to run and control the main door and lights in the house with the help of ESP8266 Wi-Fi module to allow access to the internet. It receive input from the android application. Whenever it receive input, Arduino will turn the door or light switch on or off depending what the user does. The surveillance system uses the android phone running the application to act as a surveillance camera. The video feed that the phone is taking can be seen from the website link given by the application. User could use unwanted phone to use it as a CCTV and place it in their home where the camera footage can be seen from personal computer.
