Abstract

The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship among eating disorder status, self-confidence level and body image satisfaction among female cheerleaders. This quantitative research employed online survey and questionnaire handling method for data collection. A total of 120 female cheerleaders in Kuala Lumpur (Aged between 13 to 24 years old) were participated in this study voluntarily. Participants completed Eating Attitude Test (EAT-26) Questionnaire, Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale Questionnaire and Contour Drawing Rating Scale Questionnaire through online. A correlation survey design was employed to collect the data needed. Correlation analyses revealed that there where low correlation between EAT-26, Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale and Contour Drawing Rating Scale. The BMI, position in cheerleading and achievement level affected the cheerleaders’ disorder eating behaviour, self- confidence and body image satisfaction.
