Abstract

The purposed of this study was to examine the effect of 6 weeks imagery training on football penalty kick accuracy and ball velocity among the recreational football players. All subject were be testing using the Precision Penalty Test (PPT) during pre-test and post-test. After pre-test, the experimental group will be involved in the team training program and a six week intervention training program. The control group is only involved in the team training program. At the end of the six week, post-test were conducted for the subject of experimental and control group. There were be a total of 30 students involved in this study. The subject of this study was the recreational football players who participated in the Chen Yuan Tournament. The Precision Penalty Test (PPT) and Radar Gun (RG) were used for determine the accuracy of the penalty kick and the velocity of the ball. At the beginning of the study, all the participant have done the pre-test to separate into control and experimental group. The experimental subject have to go through 6 weeks intervention which is imagery training. After 6 weeks intervention, the control and experimental group will do a post-test. Result of the study showed that there was no significant improvement in the accuracy of penalty kick and no significant improvement in the ball velocity after the 6 weeks imagery training. The data showed that the accuracy of penalty kick was improve 10.57% from (8.40±2.69) to (8.33±2.02). The ball velocity was improve 0.83% from (77.37±8.84km/h) to (76.93±8.74km/h). In conclusion, the imagery training showed that had positive effect for football players in the accuracy of the penalty kick.
