Abstract

Iris recognition has become more and more popular research in recent years, regarded as one of the most reliable and accurate biometric identification system available. Iris recognition is a biometric technology that utilises iris for human identification. Iris recognition could be replaced the authentication method of using passwords, PINs, key or access card and make the authentication system becomes more secure and safe. The iris recognition system is about image pre-processing, it is a software-based project. There are few softwares used for image pre-processing such as java, MATLAB, C programming and etc. There are few main steps in the iris recognition system like image acquisition, iris segmentation, iris normalisation, feature encode and feature matching. In this paper, the iris recognition is used for matching the same iris. Minimisation of power consumption is implemented in this project, usage of power consumption is important to the consumer. This iris recognition system is implemented in java with raspberry pi. This iris recognition system is considered to be a high accuracy system for user authentication application, and also to minimise the power consumption of the whole system. Results show that hardware implementation is much lower down the power consumption than optimization of the software.
