Abstract

In this research paper, the researcher will deliver the idea of internet content censorship that exists in Malaysia. And study about how it would be against the freedom of people to access information and freedom of speech. This research is mainly focused on the censorship of internet information that is related to political issues. In addition, to investigate the Malaysian public reaction for this topic and to gather their opinions to complete the research. To study how internet content censorship affects media quality in the eyes of people. Broadly to investigate the research question such as Is that necessary for internet content censorship existing to safeguard a country? How internet content censorship influences the public opinion? Did internet content censorship influence public fundamental rights of freedom to access information?.The target audience of this research is the adult and young adult in Malaysia with the age range between 18-40. By this range of people, they are used to the internet in order to receive information online so they are more suitable for this research. The method of the researcher to gather the data is by survey questionnaire which targeted more than 100 respondents. Another method is to interview two media practitioners to get their opinion in order to make the comparison. The theory that research will use in this research is liberalism theory. For the result shown, the majority of Malaysian think that internet content censorship was in conflict with the democracy political system, they seek for online transparency for political issues. People concerned about transparency in information in order to be involved in “own country discussion” to achieve justice, equality and a faithful government to the country.
