Abstract

Value engineering was introduced in Malaysian construction industry in the earlier of 1980’s. Value engineering has been widely implemented in Malaysia for more than 30 years but still majority of construction related personnel still vague about it and not maximise its benefits. The hinder reasons of this tragedy are lacking understanding of value engineering, not familiar its related benefits and unawareness and vague methodology of value engineering. The research objectives are to solve the problem stated above by providing the process and methodology of implementation of value engineering, enhance the level of the awareness and adaptation level and identify the critical success factors. A case study as a sample guideline will be provided to show the methodology of vale engineering and its performance. Importance and benefits of value engineering will be highlighted in this study. Study will conduct to 3 groups of respondents which are practitioners, educators and students. Questionnaire is distributed to all respondents as data collection. SPSS software will be utilised as data analysis tools after the data collected from all respondents. In short, value engineering should be brought into stages in Malaysian construction industry since it has been proven worthy by overseas countries.
