Abstract

This research is to study the book versus movie, Me Before You which is a case study of the film adaptation of the novel in the film industry. Also, this research will focus towards the challenges of novel-movie adaptation in the film industry as well as the ways to improve novel-movie adaptation in Malaysia film industry. This research discusses the media involved, some of the key people involved in the process and other factors upon which the success or failure of an adaptation depends. This research further discusses the lack of novel adaptation in Malaysia film industry and how the parties concerned struggle to improve the situation. This research can assist a potential adapter or creator of a work in making informed decisions about the viability of undertaking an adaptation project. This research has been conducted with in-depth interview methodology. The data have shown that there are many challenges of novel-movie adaptation in the film industry, everyone is responsible and we have to do their part in order to boost the quality of novel-movie adaptations in Malaysia.
