Abstract

Media is served to gather the information and convey the accurate and latest information to the public. Print media was the main medium in which the public have relied very much on to receive latest information or news. However, the invention of Internet has changed the life of the public not only on how they live but also how they consume news. More and more readers have started to consume news through online platforms especially the youth. Meanwhile the online news media tends to have slightly different news coverage compared with other media. As more Malaysians youth have used online platform to consume news, there is a need to understand the online news coverage and its influence on Malaysians youth perception. Therefore, this study will investigate the Malaysian youth general reading habits of online news media and of selected important issues. Besides, the findings will also explore to what extend online news coverage have influenced Malaysian youth perception on selected important issues.
