Abstract

The study attempts to explore the branding of vinyl figures which lead to nostalgic feelings in rebellious age. Through visuals, the researcher uses knowledge in design fields to create anthropomorphism character design as designer toys which also to be a main product of the brand. This requires the involvement of two different perspectives and views of the researching area. The objective of this research study is to investigate how vinyl figures can create a sense of nostalgia and discover different possibilities of strategies to market vinyl figures. The researcher used two techniques to collect data: Semi – structured interview: Two categories of interviews (Expert and focus groups) for an in-depth understanding of the objective of the research topic. The research conducted interviews with toy designers in Malaysia. The researcher had the approval to interview Mr John Edward, a toy designer, and Mr Guan, one of the few casters in Malaysia. The researcher also selected some reference journals and articles for the purpose of references in the research paper. The researcher had analyzed all the data collected and has come up with a vinyl figures design that was the main product of the brand.
