Abstract

This research investigates the visual value of designing a concept art and using the methods of art appreciation to convey the message through illustration in the art industry. The researcher has selected concept illustrator Tham Yee Theng.Besides that, Tham Yee Theng is an experienced concept illustrator and currently working in a studio in Petaling Jaya and the researcher would like to identify 3 of his artworks to conduct the study of art appreciation using Feldman’s Theory since his artwork is quite unique. Furthermore, Tham Yee Theng has drawn a lot of amazing and unique artworks ,by using photoshop to draw out the concept artworks, concept artworks is actually very important in every project which every multimedia artist needs to have strong conceptual understanding.For this research is to understanding of the importance of concept design that can apply in motion graphic.At the same time,to understand the drawing techniques and using color to create different feels of concept illustration besides that, using the principle of art to convey his message through his artworks. Scrutinizing from this research, the conclusion is that the researcher is able to understand the art principles and art elements design in concept illustrations.Because concept design will use a lot of elements like shape , color , line to create artwork. Besides that, mood , tone, harmonize and composition, these other elements are also important to enhance the artwork. Concept art is a big field, and is important for designers to have a base and understanding regarding the direction of the art.
