Abstract

The purpose of the study is to identify the prevalence of low back pain in relation to physical inactivity among TARUC students during Covid-19. Participants n=376 (aged between 18- 25) consisted of 200 males and 176 females took part in this study. Participants completed the surveys of demographic data, Modified Oswestry Low Back Pain Disability Questionnaire (reliability= .910) and International Physical Activity Questionnaire Short Form (IPAQ-SF) (reliability =.750). A high prevalence of low back pain among university students at TARUC, KL. Among 376 students, 53.2 % (n=200) reported having low back pain, while 47.8% (n=176) reported no experience of low back pain. There was a significant difference in low back pain mean scores between male (M= 23.26, SD = 5.83) and female (M= 25.07, SD = 9.62) t (280) = -2.17, p=.03. There was no significant difference between the prevalence of low back pain according to BMI and year of study. There was no significant difference on physical activity mean scores between gender, BMI and year of study. There was no correlation between lower back pain and physical inactivity among TARUC students during Covid-19.
