Abstract

Pure sine wave inverter are generally becoming more demand in these days modern technology. It requires the utilization of DC power source for both high and low power application. Therefore it is important to take in consideration regarding the power efficiency, cost structure, design method and the reliability of the inverter. Power inverter has been extensively used due to their high efficiency performances, low power costs and versatile applications. This project presents the simulation and design of the Low Cost High performance three phase Power inverter using MATLAB Simulation. There are several techniques and process need to be taken in consideration for example the system architectures, their modes of operation, management and the control strategies will be analyzed, advantages and the disadvantages will be discussed. The design model of the three phase power inverter will be implemented using the MATLAB/Simulink with the SimPowerSystems Block Set. The Insulated Gate Bipolar Transistor (IGBT) will be used as a switching device for the inverter system. The next thing is a passive filter design has to be incorporate in the inverter design to reduce the harmonic distortion in order to generate an output pure sine wave. The filter design will be based on the modulation level of switching component implied therefore several mathematical algorithm and control strategies will be applied into this paper. This paper focus only in the voltage output control of the generated pure sine wave. Several research papers or journal articles had done regarding the inverter project, this project proposed several methods of enhancement which will be included to design a Low Cost High performance three phase power inverter. The design of the inverter has to be optimally in a good condition to increase the power efficiency and also to reduce the Total Harmonic Distortion.
