Abstract

Study show that 30-40% of the three phase induction fault are related to motor’s stator winding. The stator function is to provide a rotating magnetic that drive the rotating armature. In order to provide rotating magnetic field in the stator a three-phase supply power must connected to the stator coil, an assumption can be made based on this phenomena. The fault occur on stator is mainly related with the three phase supply. In this project five types of common power quality problem will be discuss and observe how the faulty condition of the supply will affect the induction motor. Simulink Matlab is the main software that use to simulate the fault condition of the three phase supply and act on the three phase induction motor model. Motor Current Signature Analysis (MCSA) method is applied in this project to observe the stator current spectrum under normal and abnormal condition. Fast Fourier Transform is the main harmonic assessment tool that use to convert the time domain signal into frequency domain to perform harmonic analysis. A fuzzy logic theorem is then applied into this project to classify the condition of the motor either in normal or abnormal condition based on the harmonic analysis result. Graphical user interface (GUI) with LED light indicator is designed to display the condition of each stator based on different condition. From the result and analysis it show that, under different type of abnormal supply condition, it will show a significant change on the stator current spectrum. The significantly change can be observe in terms of changing in the peak value of the harmonic and side band generated beside the harmonic. Under harmonic analysis, peak value that obtained will be set as the input for the fuzzy logic system to determine the stator condition. Result show that with the help of fuzzy logic it’s able to indicate the stator condition. Result show that not every phases of the stator’s current spectrum will show significant change in the harmonic peak value under abnormal condition, but it does not means that the stator is running in a good condition, in fact a lot of side band is generated on the harmonic order. Last but not least an experiment are carry out based on the real induction motor, with the Cassy current sensor a real world three phase supply waveform that supply to the stator windings is obtained, to make comparison between the simulation and actual experiment result.
