Abstract

Biometric authentication is a more consistent and efficient than traditional authentication technique as it is unique among everyone. There are many types of biometric such as fingerprint, face, lips, iris, ear and etc. Lips is one of the biometrics in developing stage which can provide higher security to protect privacy and it can be implemented with face or voice recognition. The main focus in lips recognition system is to track the lips from the face image and extract the features from the lips before proceed to authentication and verification. There are four main steps in the lips as biometric authentication are pre-processing, obtain region of interest, lip extraction and finally recognition and verification. Besides that, accuracy and consistency of the results is important to determine the feasibility of the lips as biometrics.
