Abstract

The goal of the RFID and Fingerprint Smart Attendance System with IoT-Based project is to use revolutionary technologies like Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) and the Internet of Things (IoT) to transform conventional attendance management in educational institutions. This project addresses the challenges posed by conventional manual attendance methods, such as inaccuracies, time-consuming processes, and limited real-time monitoring capabilities. By incorporating RFID tags or smart cards into students' identification cards as well as using fingerprint biometric and connecting them to an IoT infrastructure, the system can automatically track and record attendance data. The project's goals include increasing security, streamlining attendance management for educational institutions, lowering truancy, and raising attendance rates. Additionally, the system's data analytics capabilities allow for better insights into attendance patterns and trends, facilitating targeted interventions to support student success. This system aims to simplify attendance recording by utilising RFID cards or fingerprint biometrics, facilitated by real-time connectivity via an ESP32 DevKit V1 WiFi module. Additionally, an 0.96-inch OLED Display provides real-time feedback to users, ensuring a user-friendly experience. Additionally. precise timekeeping is ensured by the RTC DS3231 module. The primary data collection methods used is by using the AS608 Fingerprint Reader Sensor Module, advanced fingerprint biometrics ensure safe attendance recording by authenticating individuals based on their fingerprints. Software components are essential to the project's functionality. The Arduino IDE is used to programme and configure the microcontroller, while data transmission is enabled through IoT connectivity software. Dedicated attendance management software stores and organises attendance data efficiently in PHP MySQL database, and may include data analysis and reporting functions.
