Abstract

This study investigates the relationship between perceived organisational support (POS), self-efficacy, neutralisation, and whistleblowing intention among employees in Malaysia. The research was conducted using a quantitative research approach with a cross-sectional design and online survey methodology to collect data. A total sample size of 200 employees currently employed in Malaysia was gathered, and the data collected were analysed using both SPSS and SmartPLS software. Results revealed a significant strong negative relationship between perceived organisational support and whistleblowing intention. Additionally, perceived organisational support was found to have a negative relationship with neutralisation, while self-efficacy exhibited a positive relationship with neutralisation. Furthermore, both neutralisation and self-efficacy were positively correlated with whistleblowing intention. Importantly, neutralisation was found to mediate the relationship between perceived organisational support, self-efficacy, and whistleblowing intention. Practical implications are discussed, emphasising the importance of fostering supportive organisational climates and empowering employees to act ethically while addressing neutralisation tendencies. Future research directions are also suggested to further explore the complexities of whistleblowing intention and its antecedents in diverse cultural contexts
