Abstract

Water distribution in cities and boroughs involves several challenges, such as the maintenance of pipelines, pressure, flow control, water quality monitoring among others. In this sense, optimizing the flow and pressure of a system is a key issue for optimal water distributions in districts. Therefore, the aim of this project is to improve, the quality of life of users by automating and optimizing the current water pressure control system. With the advent of technology, the water pressure control system can be made with just a few components such as Arduino Uno, LCD display, water pressure sensor and ultrasonic sensor. The software tools that can be used in this project is Arduino IDE, KiCad, where Arduino Uno will be used to write the required programs and upload onto the Arduino Uno R3. Furthermore, KiCad will be used to design the prototype PCB. Moreover, the hardware tools used are soldering iron, soldering pump and flux. The soldering iron and flux will be used to solder lead onto the PCB successfully, whereas soldering pump will be used to suck up unsuccessful solders. The parameters that will be measured in this project is the water pressure (Psi). The main function of the water pressure control system is when the pressure detected is low, the water reservoir tank will be filled to an optimal height to increase the pressure according to the Denis Papin formula, P = hpg. Besides that, when the pressure or water level in the reservoir is low, the LCD display will show the message and water level of the reservoir. If the reservoir is at the optimal water level and height, the LCD display will enter the “Sleep Mode”, which helps reduce energy consumption.
