Abstract
The Motion Sensor Smart Lamp project aims to address the inefficiency of traditional lighting system that leads extra power consumption and energy wastage as the light is always on although the light is not used. This project examines the design, development, and application of a motion sensor light as a student earning a diploma of electronic engineering, with goal of reduce energy wastage and promote environmental sustainability. This project’s goal is to construct a lighting system that detect the motion of humans and turn on and off the light. This leads the light only turn on when used and solve the energy wastage by traditional lighting system. The lower energy wastage leads the lower energy production, which can reduce carbon emission when produce energy and become eco-friendly. Besides, motion sensor light is working automatically, which means it did not need to control by human manually. This will bring convenience for users as no need to switch on or off the lights, and it also can avoid the careless cause by users such as forget to switch off the lights when not used. This project consists of three major subsystems. The first is an Arduino Uno R3 microcontroller as the brain of motion sensor light to control the whole circuit. The sensor subsystem is PIR sensor which detect the motion and receive the signal. The switch subsystem is relay that turn on or off the bulb by detective of motion. Additionally, the PC will process the microcontroller’s output by programming using C#, C++, and assembly language to manage the database.
