Abstract

Power consumption is increasing steadily, and traditional energy sources continue to play a major role in society's energy supply. These conventional energy sources will eventually run out if this pattern continues. As a result, combining renewable and conventional energy sources is essential. The cleanest and most sustainable renewable energy source is solar energy. Solar photovoltaic (PV) panels can be used to convert solar energy into electrical power. The amount of energy generated by a solar PV panel relies on numerous parameters, including solar irradiation, the materials used in the solar cells, and the surface temperature of the solar cells. The cells produce more power, the more sunlight they absorb. However, because the sun moves over the sky, a stationary solar panel cannot receive the greatest amount of sunlight throughout the day. An automated solar tracking system is required to make sure the panel receives the maximum amount of solar irradiation in order to address this. In this project, an automated single-axis solar tracker using Arduino is developed. The system uses Light Dependent Resistors (LDRs) to detect the direction of sunlight and a servo motor to adjust the position of the solar panel accordingly. It can increase the output by approximately 5% to 10% in both indoor and outdoor conditions.
