Abstract
This Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) report presents a structured and comprehensive overview of Nibou Industries’ sustainability commitments and performance metrics for the fiscal year 2023. Anchored in the core ESG pillars Environmental, Social, and Governance. this report reflects Nibou’s strategic vision to integrate sustainability into its operations, risk management, and long-term value creation. In the environmental domain, Nibou Industries has taken proactive steps to manage its environmental footprint. The company reports no significant Scope 1 or Scope 2 emissions due to the nature of its low-carbon food processing operations, but continues to monitor utility usage as part of its environmental stewardship. Efforts to improve energy efficiency include replacing traditional lighting with energy-efficient alternatives and exploring the viability of solar photovoltaic systems. Furthermore, Nibou has the culture of informal waste management practices, including segregation of recyclable packaging and food waste tracking, with ongoing initiatives to reduce waste generation and improve recycling rates. On the social pillar, Nibou is committed to fostering a healthy, safe, and inclusive workplace. The company has established clear policies against child and forced labour and ensures equitable treatment for all workers. With a predominantly local workforce, employee engagement is enhanced through regular training, transparent communication, and wellness initiatives. Nibou’s workforce safety program includes the provision of personal protective equipment (PPE), regular briefings on occupational safety, and first- aid readiness. Community engagement efforts include supporting food banks, participating in local charity events, and promoting nutritional awareness in schools demonstrating its role as a responsible corporate citizen. Additionally, Nibou’s products are halal-certified, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and fostering consumer confidence. From a governance perspective, Nibou has formalised several corporate policies including a whistleblowing policy, anti-bribery and anti-corruption (ABAC) policy, code of ethics, and anti-discrimination and harassment. These frameworks are aligned with the Malaysian Code on Corporate Governance (MCCG 2021) promoting transparency, accountability, and ethical behaviour. However, there is no risk management framework in place, including the development of a risk register and control matrix to identify and mitigate key operational risks. The company’s governance structure is reviewed annually, and succession planning for key leadership roles is a focus area for long-term resilience. This ESG report is intended for investors, business partners, regulatory bodies, and other stakeholders who seek to understand Nibou’s approach to sustainable growth. Through this transparent disclosure, Nibou reaffirms its dedication not only to profitability but also to environmental preservation, social progress, and governance excellence. The integration of ESG into its strategic objectives’ positions Nibou to create enduring value while advancing national and global sustainability priorities.
