Abstract

Nowadays, many people prefer using e-voting systems rather than the traditional voting such as paper-based voting. The security of an e-voting system is important to the users. The user might be concerned about the security of the data and information such as user details that are registered. This project aims to develop a secure e-voting system using RSA encryption algorithm which evaluates the effectiveness of RSA encryption algorithm. The project’s scope includes the designing of secure login interface, register interface, voting interface and report interface. The methodology used in the project is developing a prototype using Java as backend operations, XAMPP for database management. JSP, CSS, JavaScript and HTML as frontend operations. Testing was conducted in order to test the system performance, security and result or data that was encrypted by the RSA encryption algorithm. This project shows strong potential for securing the sensitive data such as email and password and this project will focus on coverage on the other modules, security features and optimization in future. Implementing the RSA encryption algorithm will be more secure in securing data and information compared to a traditional e-voting system or paper-based voting system.
