Abstract
Reducing delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS) through combined supplementation has been suggested to support recovery and enhance performance. This study aimed to investigate the potential benefits of V-Style Post-Workout supplementation in physically active young adults, specifically its effects on DOMS, athletic performance, and motivation. Nine participants (5 males, and 4 females; aged 19–22) who exercised at least 150 minutes per week were recruited. A single-group pre-post study design was used, with data collected at baseline (pre), immediately post-exercise, 24 hours, and 48 hours. The measured variables included glucose, lactate, creatine kinase, vertical jump height, isokinetic strength, single-leg squat, visual analog scale (VAS) for muscle soreness, and a supplement motivation form. Results indicated no significant changes in glucose, creatine kinase, vertical jump, isokinetic peak torque at 180°/s and 240°/s, or motivation scores. However, a significant difference in lactate levels was observed between pre- and post-exercise (p = 0.013) and in isokinetic strength at 60°/s between pre-exercise and 24 hours post-exercise (p = 0.014). Significant improvements were also found in muscle soreness ratings (VAS) between pre- and post-exercise (p = 0.021), pre-and 24 hours (p = 0.004), and 24 to 48 hours (p = 0.032). Although the small sample size limits the generalizability of these findings, some variables showed promising results, suggesting potential benefits of V-Style supplementation on muscle recovery and perceived soreness. Future studies with larger sample sizes and control groups are recommended to validate these preliminary findings and further explore the role of post-workout supplementation in exercise recovery.
