Abstract

Nowadays, e-commerce is having rapid growth due to the era of modernisation and most of the people tend to purchase things through online platforms. This being because e-commerce has applied much more work pressure to the logistics industry especially the section of parcel sorting and counting. There are some of the logistics industry still using traditional manual processes on sorting and counting the parcels which are resulting in a higher chance of getting error rates and operational inefficiencies so it is a significant challenges in scaling to fulfill the demand.Hence, this project proposes how the development of the parcel sorting and counting system by applying the technology of RFID and how the RFID technology can address the issues. The integration of RFID tagging , scanning and data management aims to improve the accuracy, speed and scalability of parcel handling operations. This project includes several modules such as RFID tag registration, tracking, data management and reporting. The Agile development methodology is adopted to ensure iterative progress and adaptability to evolving requirements. Comprehensive testing, including unit, integration, and user acceptance tests, will be conducted to validate the system's functionality and reliability. The expected outcome is coming out with a solution that reduces manual intervention, minimizes error, and increases the overall operational efficiency in every parcel delivery station. There are still potential limitations that may include the significant initial investment and integration with the existing logistics infrastructure also due to the automation and precision highly relies on the system. In short, the main goal of this project is to contribute to the logistics industry by providing a scalable, efficient and reliable solution for managing the increasing numbers of parcels.
