Abstract

Internet of Things (IoT) conceptualizes the idea of remotely connecting and monitoring real world objects (things) through the World Wide Web. This technology can be applied to our homes for a smarter, energy efficient and automated home. This IoT project focuses on building a system which will enable a user to remotely turn electrical appliances on or off. The same concept can be used for a smart home security system as well. The advantage that can be gained by this IoT based system over other systems using different technologies is that the system can be controlled by the user to switch electrical appliances on or off from any distant location as long the user has a device that has access to the World Wide Web. This systems main component consists of a computer board and cloud which serves as the backbone for IoT technology.
