Abstract
In modern households, the storage and maintenance of shoes have become an overlooked yet significant concern, particularly with the increasing number of footwears being stored in open or shared racks. Over time, shoes left idle develop unpleasant odours, accumulate dirt, and become potential breeding grounds for bacteria, affecting the overall cleanliness and comfort of the living space. Additionally, unsecured racks make footwear vulnerable to theft or misplacement. This project proposes the development of a smart shoe care and security rack, integrating a biometric security system, an automated caring mechanism, and an odour control unit. The biometric module ensures only authorized users can access the shoe rack, reducing the risk of theft. Once accessed, the system utilizes a mechanical shoe handling and cleaning process to dry moisture, preserving the longevity of the footwear. An odour enhancement system combines perfume dispensing, UV sterilization, and humidity control using temperature and moisture sensors to maintain a fresh and hygienic environment inside the rack. The fan and heating system are activated in response to real-time environmental data, ensuring optimal internal conditions. The expected outcome is a secure, automated, and intelligent shoe storage solution that enhances both functionality and hygiene. This project aligns with Sustainable Development Goal 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure) by demonstrating the application of smart embedded systems in everyday infrastructure, promoting a more innovative and efficient lifestyle. Ultimately, the project not only solves practical household issues but also contributes to the development of smart home technologies.
