Abstract

Redecor is an Augmented Reality application for mobile devices which is created for the purpose of solving furniture shopping problems. As finding a suitable furniture to fit at home with the rest of the existing furniture can be a real hassle, this will be the new way shopping that reduces all that hassle. It projects a digitized 3D model of your desired furniture onto the real environment with just a touch away. No more mistakes in furniture selection as you can make easy comparison with existing room designs and furniture at home. Plus, with a special feature in our application, users can also rebuild rooms from scratch for a full redecoration and refurnishing. This document covers the overall scope of the project and the details of 2 modules, Augmented Reality/Projection and the Virtual Room modules. Use case and activity diagrams are sketched out for capturing the functional requirements for the purpose of system analysis. The software development process model adopted into the development of Redecor is the Incremental Process Model as we developed the application, we tested its functional components for bugs and errors. Testing methods conducted are the functional or unit testing, integration and regression testing to ensure components work well together. The outcome of this project is a working version, built on Android platform. Its main modules are working as intended as testing of the application goes well. There are room for improvements such as adding more customization features to the application and make use of a marker that takes 3D perspective into account. However, the development of Redecor has brought a lot of new knowledge of the development platform, Unity Engine as well as technical programming skills. In conclusion, Redecor will be one of the applications to pave the new way of shopping of the future generation
