Abstract

Women and Construction Industry, women always described as powerless servant in male dominated culture and Construction Industry is a macho culture industry which required brute strength and workers in this industry need physical stamina due to the work frequently requires prolonged standing, bending, stooping, and working in cramped quarters. Construction work is a treacherous way to make a living. The rate of injuries and illness at construction industry is far greater than many other industries. It is hard for us to imaging how a woman can work in construction site due to hostile working condition. But since construction industry plays an essential role in this society and nation country, it is a need for us to help increase the number of women involved in this industry and gain success in this field together with men. To help in increasing number of women in Malaysia Construction Industry, I would like to carry out a project dissertation on title of Women In Construction Industry to identify the different occupations in construction industry that women participate, such as Quantity Surveyor, Engineer, Architect, Contractor, and Project Manager, to identify barriers that prevents women working in the construction industry and also to recommend to aid the recruitment and retention of women in Malaysia Construction Industry. Questionnaires will be distributed to women in Construction Academy and Construction Industry to conduct survey and interview. The collected data and information are studied and analyzed following by conclusion and recommendations of the research study.
