Abstract

The goal of this research was to examine the relationship between teacher-student interaction and student achievement. There were a total of 100 students from Tunku Abdul Rahman University College (TARUC) participated in this research. Questionnaire on Teacher Interaction (QTI) was an instrument completed by participants that used to measure teacher-student interaction while Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) was collected from participants to measure student academic achievement. This research also included descriptive statistics, normality test and inferential statistics. In this research, Pearson Correlation was used to examine the relationship between eight subscales of Questionnaire on Teacher Interaction (QTI) and academic achievement (CGPA). The obtained results were leadership (r = .013, p > 0.05), Helping/Friendly (r = -.050, p > 0.05), Understanding (r = .077, p > 0.05), Student Responsibilities/Freedom (r = .058, p > 0.05), Uncertain (r = -.059, p > 0.05), Strict (r = -.053, p > 0.05), Dissatisfied (r = .058, p > 0.05) and Admonishing (r = -.072, p > 0.05). The results showed that none of the subscales were significantly correlated with student academic achievement.
