Abstract

Recent developments in light emitting diode (LED) production technology mean that high numbers of LEDs can now be used at costs that are no longer prohibitive. This project looks at various creative and artistic applications of three dimensional grids of LEDs, when used to produce imagery and volumetric visualisations in three physical dimensions. It can inhabit a virtual layer anchored within real space adds to the affective possibilities of digital visualization systems. In this project a 5 x 5 x 5 matrix of 3D RGB LED display was designed and built. The display consists of a cube of 125 RGB LED individually controllable red, blue and green colour LEDs hand-soldered into a lattice. The aim of this project is to develop an attractive advertisement system and improve human lives' environment. The LED cube display and controller board which interface the cube to a PIC16F887A. It can display wide range of low resolution 3D images or animation on the cubes. In this project, the cube was used to display a message of "T ARC" and some other patterns like 3D wave animation. PIC16F877A microcontroller is used in this project to control the system. There are various types of PIC microcontroller available in the market. Although PIC16F877A is very common, but it is very useful. Finally, the project is completing by integrate the two main parts. The 5 x 5 x 5 RGB LEDs cube is used for output and it control by PICI 6F877A microcontroller. Source codes were written as an input to control the PIC16F877A microcontroller, and display the desired pattern on the cube.
