Abstract

The title of this project is mobile phone operated land rover. Land rover defined as a vehicle which used as a transportation. In this project, mobile phone is required because it is the device used as a controller for the land rover. Therefore, the purpose of this project has proven that the mobile phone is able to use as a controller to replace the RF utilized wireless controller. This project is implemented by using a '40-pins, 8 inputs channels for 10-bit Analog-to-Digital Module' which is PIC16F877A. Due to the sine (cosine) waves of different frequencies of mobile phone, microcontroller unable to recognize it directly from the mobile phone. This is the reason DTMF (Dual-tone multi-frequency) signaling is used for telephone signaling over the line in the voice frequency band to the call switching center. DTMF is needed for every robot whenever there is a use of the mobile phone as the controller. DTMF has the potential to convert the frequencies from the keypad tone to become the digital signal. For example when key '2' pressed, the '1336Hz' and '697Hz' frequencies from the mobile phone will be determined by DTMF. (Raghavendra, 2004) DTMF will convert these frequencies into binary code '00000010' and send to the PIC16F877A microcontroller. In order to match the DTMF decoder, the use of PIC16F877A microcontroller is necessary in this project. P ICl 6F877A is a microcontroller used to detect the signal from the DTMF before the signal can be received by the motor driver to the 5 V motors. Buzzer and led are used to alert user whenever the signal from PIC16F877A is received by the motor driver. More specified explanations were conducted in this dissertation. Internet is the only source which used as guidelines and provided important information.
