Abstract

In continuous inkjet technology, a high-pressure pump directs liquid ink from a reservoir through a gun body and a microscopic nozzle, creating a continuous stream of ink droplets via the Plateau-Rayleigh instability. A piezoelectric crystal creates an acoustic wave as it vibrates within the gun body and causes the stream of liquid to break into droplets at regular intervals — 64,000 to 165,000 droplets per second may be achieved. The ink droplets are subjected to an electrostatic field created by a charging electrode as they form; the field varies according to the degree of drop deflection desired. This results in a controlled, variable electrostatic charge on each droplet. Charged droplets are separated by one or more uncharged "guard droplets" to minimize electrostatic repulsion between neighboring droplets. This case study is to determine the current situation of this company. This company is having problem on its company system, less systematic, and under development. Method to be applied on this project includes preparation of case study, case study on relevant resources, visit the factory to observe the current situation, analyze the result, come out with a standardize troubleshooting procedure, and conclusion. By using the knowledge of my own and advises from all sources, I am able to standardize all the troubleshooting procedure by using the simplest way which is the tree chart. The results of the case study on each type of the printers are various. Each type of the printers have different kind of specification and problem regarding have to be solved differently although most of the problem and solution are quite similar but still not the same. Basically the results are base on the observation during the factory visit with the note I stated down and also consult the workers there to obtain the correct solution to solve a problem. The finalization of my result includes the tree chart as a check list for the company's workers and also the detail procedure for them to follow. After the implementation of the result to the company, I had come out with a analysis to show the successful of my standardization. After analyze the problem, I found out that there are still a lot of spaces to be improved. So in the chapter recommendation I had recommended some possible improvement and further discussion about the problem. As a conclusion, I am able to help the company to increase the productivity on servicing, reduce the customer's down time, and also as a standardize guideline or training system for all the new technicians.
