Abstract

The purpose of this project is to develop a water table for educational and research aspect. From the educational aspect, the water table is an experimental apparatus where students can obtain and study the impression of fluid flow around a scale model in liquid. This project focuses in the design and fabrication of the water table, obtaining model’s flow pattern and validation of properties of a model. For the fabrication of the water table tank, Perspex was chosen as the material and processes such as cutting, drilling, bending and gluing were made. A dye injection apparatus and manometer were self-fabricated in order to determine a model’s fluid flow pattern and properties such as pressure and velocity respectively. In conclusion, the experiment results shows that the water table is functional on the flow visualization experiment with some improvements need to be made on errors present such as inaccuracy of pressure measurement along the surface of the model.
