Abstract

Bolted joint has been used for many years and are widely used in aerospace industrial. The success or failure of the design can cause fatal if accident occur. Furthermore, the part of bolted joint is the weakest part for an aircraft structure. Usually, the bolt hole will be deformed due to a certain loading condition. Thus, this can bring the effect for the bolt hole to elongate, shear out failure and bearing failure. Therefore, it is crucial to study on the design of bolt joint and predicts any possible defects. The title of this project is ‘Simulation of Bolted Joint Applied on Aircraft Structure Using ANSYS in 3-Dimensional Simulation’. The purpose for this simulation is to study the material performance under a tensile loading condition by using Finite Element Method in order to determine the failure theories which might help to prevent the failures occurred at static loading. Ductile material is used in this simulation. In this project, the software such as SOLIDWORKS and ANSYS will be used to do the drawing and simulation.
