Abstract

Mobile phone has become an essential equipment that people used to stay in contact and receive information. However, charging of mobile battery always needed after used for a period and it will cause inconvenient for people who always stay outside of house and travel around. Although power bank can help to solve this problem. Therefore, this project presents the design and development of a wind powered mobile charger. It is aim to produce a mobile charger that is portable, lightweight and east to mount on car. With the use of small wind turbine, electricity can be generate and store in rechargeable battery for further use. Wind is a great resource to generate electricity because it is renewable and has wide availability. To gain more understanding of this project, related articles and journals are studied. Wind blade design directly affect the efficiency of the charger. Analysis will done throughout this project. Moreover, the position to place the mobile charger also very important because it will directly affect the stability of the rotation of the blades and aerodynamic performance of the car. All the results obtained from Solidworks and ANSYS will be compared and the best design will be chosen and constructed. After constructing the prototype, an experiment will done to examine the minimum wind speed to generate the required charging output for mobile phone.
