Abstract

A manufacturing industry of product must have gone through several machining process before sent to the clients in order to get the good surface roughness. Milling operation is widely perform different types of cutting. Tool wear plays an important role in manufacturing industry, if the condition of tool life is increases, the production cost and time was decrease. Higher tool wear affects the surface roughness of work piece due to the flank wear occurring on the tool. The main cause of tool wear occurrence is due to combination of cutting parameters that have been used. Hence, the cutting parameters such as feed rate and depth of cut was investigated in order to get the increase the tool life. NiTiCo30 carbide end mill was used to machine the SUS316 stainless steel material. The parameters that went constant are spindle speed 5000rpm and width of cut is 3mm. Besides, the manipulated variables are feed rate 250mm/min, 350mm/min and depth of cut 0.5mm and 1mm. The 4 different combination cutting parameters of runs is done. Analysis done using Anova and the results obtained were feed rate 350mm/min and depth of cut 0.5mm. 12.97% of error as compared to theoretical and experimental results.
