Abstract

Biometric authentication has been touted as the replacement for passwords for several years. Now many years down the line we see that, it has gone from trying to be a replacement to a means of complimenting passwords to offer better security. Keystroke dynamics which categorizes individuals based on their manner and rhythm of typing, is one of the leading methods to make this happen. Historically keystroke dynamics have only been done on either pressure based or latency based. As their implementations are relatively unintrusive and require no additional actions to be performed by the end user it is one of the more favored solution by the end users. However, the main challenge with keystroke dynamics and biometrics in general is to categorize the datasets obtained into user’s profiles accurately. Results obtained for the system showed the system accuracy to be 96% before thresholding and 92% after thresholding. False Acceptance Rate (FAR) and False Rejection Rate (FRR) were both obtained and found to be 4%.
