Abstract
Team performance is crucial for organisational success, especially in environments that rely heavily on collaborative efforts. This study aims to explore the factors influencing team performance, focusing on team psychological safety, team cohesion, team efficacy, and team learning behaviour, along with the mediating effects of job satisfaction, team cohesion, team efficacy, and team learning behaviour. The study utilises Input Process Output (IPO) Model, Social Exchange Theory and Resource Based View Theory as the theoretical frameworks. A quantitative approach was employed, and data were collected via questionnaires from 204 respondents across various industries in Malaysia. The result showed that team psychological safety, Team Cohesion, Team Efficacy, and Team Learning Behaviour has a positive and significant relationship with team performance, but team diversity was found to have a negative yet significant relationship with team performance. Moreover, transformational leadership, team Communication, Resource Availability, and Job satisfaction did not have a significant direct impact on team performance. Furthermore, Job Satisfaction have positive and significant relationships with Resource Availability, Team Efficacy and Team Learning Behaviour have positive and significant relationships with Team Psychological Safety, and Team Cohesion also have positive and significant relationships with Transformational Leadership. Lastly, Job Satisfaction, Team Efficacy, Team Learning Behaviour, and Team Cohesion as mediators have positive and significant relationships with team performance. These results provide valuable insights for managers and policymakers seeking to enhance team performance in organisations. Limitations and suggestions for future research were also discussed in the study.
