Abstract
This project designed a Mechanical Window Cleaner with Magnetic System to address safety, efficiency, and sustainability in window cleaning. Traditional methods require ladders and excess water, increasing risks and waste. The main objective was to design a tool that enables users to clean both side of a window simultaneously, without climbing. The final design integrates a telescopic pole, a ball joint for angled adjustments, a USB-powered pump with spray nozzles, and reusable materials. The design concepts were evaluated using a scoring system, with the chosen prototype developed through SolidWorks modeling. A test showed a faster cleaning time and less water use compared to traditional methods. The telescopic pole improves safety by allowing ground-level cleaning, while the precise spray system reduces water waste. Issues like outer pad slippage during upward motions were noted, likely due to insufficient magnet strength. Despite these, the prototype aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Its lightweight, modular design supports easy repairs and reduces environmental impact. The cleaner offers a more efficiency and eco-friendly solution suitable for household and light commercial use.
